Dove Hunting with Gustavo Olsen
Clients will be lodged at Rodeo de los Bueyes Lodge, which is privately owned and operated by long time Outfitter and Argentine Native, Gustavo Olsen. The lodge was built in 1999 when Gustavo obtained the FIRST and ONLY Commercial hunting Permit for the Tucuman Province. The hunting in Tucuman is from April 15th through the end of September. They are closed during the Argentine summer because of the high temperatures and during this time Gustavo runs a trout fishing operation at his family’s property in Patagonia.

The typical hunting schedule for the Tucuman trip is as follows: Hunters will arrive at the Tucuman Airport about 2:00 PM where they will be met by Gustavo Olsen and then transferred to his private lodge. The hunters will have a chance to unpack, grab a bite to eat and then head to the field for an afternoon shoot at a roost or waterhole. The group will then return to the lodge for a shower, drink, and a chance to relax before sitting down to a wonderful supper.

The next 4 days will be FULL hunting days. Hunters will receive a wake up call about 6:00 am, eat a hardy breakfast, and then depart for the field around 7:00 am. The drives to the field will normally range from 30-45 minutes. Upon arriving at the hunting location, each hunter will be paired with a bird boy and placed in a blind. The shooting will start immediately and will continue for the next 3-4 hours. Hunters will then either return to the lodge for lunch or lunch will be served in the field in a typical Argentine “Asado” fashion. Hunters will then have the opportunity to enjoy a short “siesta” before returning to the field for the afternoon’s hunting. Hunters will normally shoot 3-4 hours before returning to the lodge. Upon arriving at the lodge at the completion of the afternoon’s shooting, hunters will have the opportunity to take a shower, have a drink, and relax before enjoying a wonderful dinner.

On the last day hunters will have the opportunity to hunt the last morning and then return to the lodge to pack, eat lunch and then head to the airport to catch their flight back to their home. Hunting is mainly over harvested corn, soybean, sunflower, or sorghum fields. In addition to the harvested fields hunters can expect to shoot waterholes, flyways, and or roosts. The dove fly all day long in Argentina so each hunter can expect to fire 1000-2000 rounds per day and some hunters have fired many more.

The typical Tucuman Package includes a MINIMUM of 4 FULL HUNTING DAYS (8 hunts) but depending on Airline schedules and what airline the hunters choose to fly on, the hunters might have the opportunity to hunt TWO BONUS ½ days at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE except for shotgun shells.
